Aiya Sweetened Roasted Matcha To Go Details
A sweetened blend of slow-roasted matcha for single-serving lattes. Cane sugar sweetened, 8 sticks.
Roasting is what makes this one different. The matcha is slowly roasted before blending, which drives off the grassy, vegetal note and replaces it with something rich, toasted and aromatic — closer to a hojicha character than to standard matcha. If green tea tastes too grassy to you, this is the one to try.
Aiya makes four To Go formats: this is the roasted, cane sugar sweetened one. The standard Sweetened To Go uses unroasted matcha with cane sugar, the Sugar-Free version uses stevia, and the plain Matcha To Go has no sweetener.
Three ingredients: cane sugar, roasted matcha green tea, fruit pectin. Mix one packet into dairy or non-dairy milk for an instant latte.
Aiya has been family-owned since 1888 and is run today by the fifth generation of the Sugita family. They are based in Nishio, in Japan's Aichi prefecture, where matcha has been grown for over 800 years.
Who Aiya Sweetened Roasted Matcha To Go Is For
This is for anyone who finds standard matcha too grassy, and for anyone who likes hojicha or roasted teas generally. It is also a good winter option — the toasted character suits hot milk considerably better than a bright green matcha does.
Eight sticks, no equipment needed.
