Why methylated (active) forms

Some nutrients, especially the B vitamins, have to be converted into an active form before the body can use them. Methylated supplements provide that active form directly:

• Methylfolate (5-MTHF) instead of folic acid
• Methylcobalamin instead of cyanocobalamin (B12)
• P5P (pyridoxal-5-phosphate) instead of standard B6
• R5P (riboflavin-5-phosphate) instead of standard B2

This matters most for people with MTHFR gene variations, who may convert folic acid and B12 less efficiently — which is why many look specifically for methylated forms.

What methylated B vitamins support
