Thorne Research Vitamin D/K2 Liquid Details

Vitamin K2 is a series of molecules known as menaquinones, some of which are found naturally in fermented soybeans. Thorne Research’s vitamin K2 is MK-4, the most common and well studied of the menaquinones. Vitamin K2, working in concert with vitamin D, exerts a more powerful influence on bone than does vitamin K1.

(Adults 19 years and over): Take 1 drop of Thorne Research Vitamin D/K2 Liquid daily or as recommended by a health-care practitioner.

        Excellent D/K2

        Easy to take.

Helps with my vitamin intake in the fall, winter and spring months when there is a lack of sun or too cold to go out and get sun

Product didn't change, only the label did.

The quantity of ingredients didn't change, only the recommended serving did.

Before the dosage was 2 drops, now it is only 1 drop. Health Canada limits the Vitamin K dosage to 120 mcg per serving, so they would of had to reduce the serving from 2 drops (200 mcg) to 1 drop (100 mcg).

Also the "Vitamin D" level didn't change, 12.5 mcg = 500 IU per drop.

The units in this product have changed

This product used to contain 1000 IU of D3, and 200 mcg of K2. By changing the units to Ug and lowering the amount, I don't feel this product is good value any more. There seems to be an updated packaging version as well, so buyer beware.

        Only one I use

I had low Vitamin D. So I had to start taking Vitamin D. My doctor didn't know the difference between K1 and K2, but I knew from reading up on it. K1 is involved in blood coagulation, but K2 takes the calcium increase in your body from the D3 supplementation, and diverts to the bones and teeth where it's needed. So just taking Vitamin D on it's own isn't half as helpful as taking it with K2. And D3 is the best form of vitamin D.

I'm allergic to the Ragweed plant family, and other Vitamin D/K2 drops combinations use sunflower or safflower oil, so I'm allergic to them. This one is fine. I'm not allergic to it. And drop form is great - it's so much more convenient that adding yet another pill to my regime.

Last year's blood test showed that I was almost at normal levels of Vitamin D, so this definitely works. I've added another drop for a total of 5 drops (2500IU) and that should get me up to normal with no trouble.
