People with kidney disease or on certain medications should talk to their healthcare practitioner first.
Vitamart's Take
Vitacheck Magnesium Bisglycinate is our own brand of daily magnesium, made in Canada and approved by Health Canada. 200 mg of elemental magnesium per capsule in the gentle bisglycinate form — well-absorbed, easy on your stomach, with the glycine part calming on its own. The bottle holds 120 capsules, so a daily routine lasts four months. Vegan, allergen-friendly, and one of the lowest-cost daily magnesiums in Canada.
How Vitacheck Magnesium Bisglycinate Compares
Vitacheck vs CanPrev Magnesium Bisglycinate
Vitacheck (this product): One of our Vitamart Exclusive brands. 200 mg elemental magnesium from bisglycinate. Made in Canada. Lower cost per capsule.
CanPrev Magnesium Bisglycinate 200 Gentle: Premium Canadian brand. Same 200 mg elemental dose, same bisglycinate form. Higher cost reflects the brand positioning.
Bisglycinate vs Citrate vs Oxide
Magnesium Bisglycinate (this form): Best for sleep, stress, muscle tension, and daily use. Well-absorbed and gentle.
Magnesium Citrate: Best for occasional constipation. Has a mild laxative effect.
Magnesium Oxide: Very low absorption (4%). Avoid for therapeutic use.
Vitacheck Bisglycinate vs Magnesium Threonate
Vitacheck Bisglycinate: Best for general sleep, stress, and muscle support.
Magnesium Threonate: Crosses the blood-brain barrier better. Specifically for cognitive support. Premium-priced and reflects the specialty positioning.
The 7 Forms of Magnesium
Not all magnesium supplements are the same. The form determines what magnesium does in your body:
Bisglycinate (this product): Sleep, stress, muscle tension. Gentle on digestion.
Citrate: Constipation relief. Mild laxative effect.
Threonate: Brain and cognitive support.
Malate: Energy production and fibromyalgia support.
Taurate: Cardiovascular support.
Chloride / Sulfate: Usually topical (Epsom salts).
Oxide: Low absorption (~4%). Avoid for therapeutic use.
If you only buy one magnesium, bisglycinate is the most flexible — it works for sleep, stress, muscle support, and daily maintenance without digestive side effects.
Why Vitamart Launched Vitacheck
We've been selling supplements since 2005, and over the years we noticed a pattern: customers were paying premium prices for products where the active ingredient was identical to lower-cost options. The premium pricing wasn't paying for better ingredients — it was paying for marketing budgets, fancy packaging, and brand recognition.
Vitacheck is our answer to that. Same Canadian manufacturing standards. Same Health Canada NPN approval. Same active ingredients in the same doses. Just without the marketing markup. We can offer Vitacheck at lower prices because we work directly with the manufacturers and skip the middlemen. The savings go to you.
How To Use
Adults: Take 1 capsule daily, ideally in the evening with food, or as directed by your healthcare practitioner. Some people take 2 capsules — once in the morning and once in the evening — for stronger support.
Talk to a healthcare practitioner before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have kidney disease, have a medical condition, or are taking medication.
Frequently Asked Questions
➕ What is a Vitamart Exclusive brand?
Vitamart Exclusive brands like Vitacheck are made specifically for Vitamart. Same Canadian manufacturing standards as premium brands, same Health Canada NPN approval, same active ingredients in the same doses — just without the marketing markup that adds 30-50% to most premium brand prices.
➕ How is this different from CanPrev Magnesium Bisglycinate?
Both use 200 mg of elemental magnesium from bisglycinate, both are made in Canada. CanPrev is the premium Canadian brand at a higher price point. Vitacheck is our Vitamart Exclusive version at a lower cost. Same active ingredient, same form.
➕ Why bisglycinate over other forms?
Bisglycinate is well-absorbed, gentle on digestion (no laxative effect), and the glycine component supports relaxation. It's the form most healthcare practitioners recommend for general use, especially for sleep and stress.
➕ Is this good for sleep?
Magnesium bisglycinate is one of the most popular sleep supplements. Magnesium supports the nervous system's relaxation response, and the glycine in bisglycinate has its own calming effect. Most people take it 30-60 minutes before bed.
➕ Will it cause loose stools?
Bisglycinate is the gentlest magnesium form on digestion. Unlike citrate or oxide (which pull water into the bowel and cause loose stools at higher doses), bisglycinate is well-absorbed and shouldn't cause this.
➕ How much magnesium should I take daily?
Health Canada's RDI is 320 mg (women) and 420 mg (men). Most adults get about half from food, so 200-400 mg from supplements is typical. Start with 1 capsule (200 mg) and adjust based on how you feel.

People who want vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants in one coordinated product (vs taking 5 separate supplements)
Long-term EMP users who already know the product works for them — we ship across Canada at one of the lowest prices online
Adults focused on mental and physical wellness support as part of a long-term routine
People whose healthcare practitioner has specifically recommended EMP
Who this product is NOT for: If you currently take psychiatric medications, do not start EMP without first consulting your healthcare practitioner. EMP's broad-spectrum formula can interact with these medications in significant ways, and your practitioner can coordinate the specific transition protocol that TrueHope provides for healthcare professionals. If you want a basic daily multivitamin without the complexity, consider MegaFood, Garden of Life, or one of our Vitamart Exclusive multivitamins instead.
Vitamart's Take
EMP isn't a regular multivitamin. It's 35 nutrients in specific ratios — 14 vitamins, 15 minerals, plus amino acids and antioxidants — taken in divided doses through the day. The customers who use it tend to be very loyal; some have been ordering it monthly for years. The chelation process TrueHope uses helps the body absorb the minerals more like it would from food. It's premium-priced because the formula is genuinely involved.
How TrueHope EMP Compares
EMP vs Standard Multivitamins
TrueHope EMP: 35-ingredient broad-spectrum formula with proprietary chelation, balanced ratios, amino acids and antioxidants included. Premium-priced.Standard Multivitamin: Basic vitamin and mineral coverage. Lower cost. A fit if you want general daily nutrition without the complexity.
EMP vs Whole-Food Multivitamins (MegaFood, Garden of Life)
TrueHope EMP: Chelated isolated nutrients in specific ratios. Comprehensive amino acid and antioxidant inclusion.Whole-Food Multivitamins: Vitamins paired with real food ingredients. More moderate dosing. A fit if you prefer food-form vitamins.
EMP vs Building Your Own Stack
TrueHope EMP: One coordinated product with the ratios figured out for you.Building Your Own: Buying multivitamin + magnesium + B-complex + amino acids + antioxidants separately. More flexibility, but harder to manage and may be lower total cost if you only need a few.
What Is Broad-Spectrum Micronutrient Support?
The standard multivitamin focuses on covering the main vitamins and a handful of minerals. EMP takes a different approach: it tries to deliver every micronutrient the body needs for cellular function, in proportions designed to work together rather than compete for absorption.
EMP includes:
14 vitamins: Including all 8 B vitamins, plus A, C, D, E, K, biotin, and folate
15 minerals: Including magnesium, zinc, selenium, chromium, calcium, iron, manganese, copper, iodine, molybdenum, vanadium, and others
3 amino acids: DL-Phenylalanine, L-Glutamine, L-Methionine — building blocks of neurotransmitters and proteins
3 antioxidants: Citrus bioflavonoids, grape seed extract, plus choline, inositol, and ginkgo biloba
The idea: many wellness issues come from multiple small nutrient gaps rather than one big deficiency. A broad-spectrum approach addresses all of them at once.
How To Use
Adults: Take EMP in divided doses through the day with food, as directed on the label or by your healthcare practitioner. Most users build up gradually over the first few weeks.
Important: Talk to your healthcare practitioner before use, especially if you take psychiatric medications, are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a medical condition, or take any prescription medication. EMP's broad-spectrum formula can interact significantly with medications metabolized by the liver. Your practitioner can coordinate the appropriate transition protocol with TrueHope if needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
➕ What does EMP stand for?
EMP stands for Empowerplus, TrueHope's flagship broad-spectrum micronutrient formula. The full product name is TrueHope Empowerplus EMP Advanced.
➕ What's the proprietary 4-step process?
It's TrueHope's manufacturing process that chelates each mineral to an organic ligand. The goal is to help nutrients absorb more like they would from whole food rather than as isolated mineral salts. TrueHope says this helps the body recognize and use the nutrients more effectively.
➕ Can I take EMP with psychiatric medications?
Not without healthcare practitioner guidance. EMP's broad-spectrum formula can interact significantly with psychiatric medications, sometimes amplifying their effects. Talk to your practitioner before starting — they can coordinate the appropriate transition protocol with TrueHope if needed.
➕ How long until I notice effects?
Most EMP users build the product up gradually over weeks. Some people notice changes in energy or mood within the first few weeks; others find the benefits build over 2-3 months of consistent daily use.
➕ Why is EMP a premium-priced product?
EMP delivers 35 nutrients (vs the 15-20 in most multivitamins), uses the proprietary 4-step chelation process, and includes amino acids and antioxidants that most multis don't. The higher cost reflects the complexity of the formula and manufacturing.
➕ Should I take EMP with food?
Yes. Taking with food improves absorption of the fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) and reduces the chance of nausea from the minerals. Divided doses through the day work better than one big dose.

Vitamart's Take
Magnesium is the supplement people most often tell us actually helped — usually with sleep, sometimes with muscle cramps or stress. Bisglycinate is the gentle form. It doesn't run you to the bathroom the way some magnesiums do, and the glycine part is calming on its own. Take one before bed with food. CanPrev's a well-known Canadian brand and 200 mg is a full daily dose.
How CanPrev Magnesium Bisglycinate Compares

Magnesium Bisglycinate (this form): Best for sleep, stress, muscle tension, and daily use. Well-absorbed and gentle.

Who Vitacheck D3 2500IU Is For
Canadians during fall and winter — when your latitude makes vitamin D from sunlight nearly impossible from October through April
Adults who work indoors year-round and don't get regular sun exposure
People with darker skin — melanin reduces vitamin D synthesis from sunlight
Adults 60+, who synthesize vitamin D less efficiently as they age
People wanting a stronger D3 dose than basic 1,000 IU products without going up to therapeutic 5,000+ IU doses
Families taking daily D3 — the 360- or 550-softgel sizes at Vitamart Exclusive pricing make daily use accessible
Who this product is NOT for: If you're already taking a D3 + K2 combination (like our Vitacheck D3 + K2 Softgels), adding this would double-dose your D3. Stick to one D3 source. If you have hypercalcemia or specific medical conditions affecting calcium metabolism, talk to your healthcare practitioner first. If you want a liquid drop format, our Vitacheck D3 2500IU Drops deliver the same dose in drops.
Vitamart's Take
Vitacheck D3 2500IU is our own brand of extra-strength vitamin D, made in Canada and approved by Health Canada. 2,500 IU per softgel is a strong daily dose — particularly suited to Canadian winters, when sun exposure can't make D from October through April. The cholecalciferol is suspended in organic olive oil and MCT oil, since D3 is fat-soluble and needs some fat to absorb. Third-party tested.
How Vitacheck D3 2500IU Compares
Vitacheck D3 2500IU vs Basic 1,000 IU Vitamin D
Vitacheck 2500IU (this product): Stronger daily dose suited to Canadian winter conditions and adults who don't get sun. Olive oil + MCT base for absorption.
Basic 1,000 IU D3: Lower daily dose. Adequate for people who get regular sun exposure or already have high vitamin D levels. Lower cost per softgel but more softgels needed for the same total dose.
Vitacheck D3 2500IU Softgels vs Vitacheck D3 2500IU Drops
Softgels (this product): Pre-measured dose, easy on the go. 1 softgel = 2,500 IU.
D3 2500IU Drops: Liquid format, easier to dose for kids and adults who don't like swallowing softgels. 500 servings per 15ml bottle.
D3 Alone vs D3 + K2
D3 Alone (this product): Just D3. Best fit if you already take K2 separately, or if you don't need additional K2 for bone/cardiovascular support.
D3 + K2: Adds K2 to direct calcium into bones rather than soft tissues. The pairing most practitioners recommend after age 40. See Vitacheck D3 + K2 Softgels.
Why Canadians Need Vitamin D
Vitamin D is unusual among nutrients because your body can make it from sunlight on bare skin. The problem in Canada: most of the country sits above the 35°N latitude, where the sun's UVB rays aren't strong enough to make vitamin D from October through April.
Even during summer months, factors that limit vitamin D synthesis include:
Indoor work: Most Canadians spend the majority of daylight hours indoors
Sunscreen use: SPF 15+ blocks 99% of UVB rays
Darker skin: More melanin means slower vitamin D synthesis
Age: Older adults synthesize vitamin D 4x less efficiently than younger adults
Obesity: Vitamin D is fat-soluble and can become sequestered in fat tissue, reducing circulating levels
Health Canada recommends adults get 600-800 IU daily from food and supplements combined. Most Canadians don't get this from food alone (oily fish and fortified dairy are the main sources). Many practitioners recommend higher daily doses (1,000-4,000 IU) during winter months based on individual blood test results.
How To Use
Adults: Take 1 softgel daily with a meal containing some fat (D3 is fat-soluble), or as directed by your healthcare practitioner. Some practitioners recommend higher daily doses based on blood test results showing low vitamin D levels.
Talk to a healthcare practitioner before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have hypercalcemia, take medications, have kidney disease, or have any condition affecting calcium metabolism.
Frequently Asked Questions
➕ Is 2,500 IU too much daily?
No — it's well within Health Canada's tolerable upper intake level (4,000 IU daily for adults). Many practitioners recommend 1,000-4,000 IU daily for Canadians during fall and winter, especially based on blood test results. 2,500 IU is a strong daily dose without going into therapeutic territory.
➕ How is this different from CanPrev or Jamieson D3?
CanPrev and Jamieson are premium Canadian brands at a higher price point. Vitacheck is one of our Vitamart Exclusive brands at a lower price point. All three are made in Canada to Health Canada standards. Choice often comes down to brand preference and what you want to pay.
➕ Why olive oil and MCT oil?
D3 is fat-soluble — your body needs fat to absorb it. Suspending it in organic olive oil and MCT oil ensures consistent absorption, even on a low-fat day.
➕ Should I take D3 with K2?
After age 40, most practitioners now recommend the pairing because K2 helps direct calcium into bones rather than soft tissues. If you want both together, see our Vitacheck D3 + K2 Softgels. If you already take a K2 supplement separately, this standalone D3 is fine.
➕ How long does one bottle last?
At 1 softgel daily: the 180-count bottle lasts 6 months, 360-count lasts 12 months, and 550-count lasts about 18 months. The larger sizes are popular with daily users who want to skip frequent reorders.
➕ Can my kids take this?
Talk to your child's healthcare practitioner about appropriate dosing for kids. Children's vitamin D needs are typically 400-1,000 IU daily depending on age. Our Vitacheck D3 Drops are easier to dose for kids if you need a lower daily amount.
