Naka Platinum Organic Frankincense Essential Oil Details

Naka Platinum Organic Frankincense Essential Oil is 100% pure organic Indian frankincense oil — Boswellia serrata, undiluted — in a 50ml bottle. It is Naka's certified frankincense, and the plain truth belongs up front: against Naka's standard frankincense this is the same species, the same undiluted oil, the same size and the same directions, with organic certification behind the harvest. That certification is the only real difference between the two listings.

Naka describes the aroma as sweet, woody, balsamic and earthy, and notes that for centuries frankincense oil has been closely associated with religious traditions on top of being praised by aroma therapists — their suggestion is to diffuse the rich, musky scent at home and feel your stresses melt away. They credit the oil with antiseptic and anti-aging properties, say it may help prevent premature hair loss, and list reducing stress and anxiety among its uses — the maker's words. Naka adds that it mixes well with lavender, orange, clary sage, ylang ylang and basil. The label is explicit that this is for external and aromatic use only.

Who Naka Organic Frankincense Oil Is For

  • People who buy certified wherever it is offered and want that standard on the oils they diffuse at home.
  • Anyone who diffuses for atmosphere rather than for a symptom and wants something deep and resinous.
  • Blenders who need a base note: frankincense is one of very few oils that properly anchors a citrus or floral blend.
  • Buyers using it in a meditation or wind-down routine, where frankincense has a very long history.

Who this product is NOT for: anyone who wants boswellia for joints. That is a different product — a swallowed resin extract standardised for boswellic acids — and Boswellia Supplements is the shelf for it; this bottle carries no oral dose. It is also not a first oil: Lavender Oil is far more versatile. For raw resin to burn, see Frankincense Resin. And if certification is not what you are buying, Naka's standard frankincense is the same oil at lower cost.

Vitamart's Take

We stock this because frankincense has no real substitute on an oil shelf and a meaningful share of the people who buy it will only buy certified. Naka's is one ingredient, species named, made in Canada, in 50ml — unusual here, since the oil is costly and most brands sell 10ml or 15ml.

Two honest trade-offs. The certification is the whole of the difference against Naka's standard bottle, and we would rather say so plainly than imply this one smells better or works harder. It does not. And the scent divides people: frankincense is heavy, slightly smoky and closer to incense than perfume. If you have never smelled it, do that before committing to 50ml of either bottle.

How Naka Organic Frankincense Oil Compares

Frankincense is sold on species, purity, bottle size and certification, and the market is full of pre-diluted bottles that do not say so. This one is pure, undiluted, large for the category, and certified.

  • Versus Naka's standard frankincense: Naka Platinum Frankincense Essential Oil is the same Boswellia serrata, undiluted, same size, same directions. Certification is the difference and the only one.
  • Versus 10ml and 15ml bottles: frankincense is usually sold small because the resin is costly. At 50ml the per-millilitre cost falls substantially.
  • Versus boswellia capsules: Boswellia Supplements come from the same tree genus but are a swallowed extract for a different purpose.
  • Versus other woody oils: Cedarwood Atlas is the other grounding scent here — drier, less sweet, less costly.

What an Oil's Colour and Thickness Tell You

Pour two bottles of the same oil side by side and they may not look alike, which worries people more than it should. Colour and viscosity come from the heavier, less volatile material a distillation carried over, and that varies with the crop, the season and the batch. Resin-derived oils like frankincense tend towards the thicker, more tinted end of the shelf simply because of what they are made from, while a citrus or a mint pours like water and looks close to colourless. None of that is a quality grading: a paler bottle is not weaker and a darker one is not stronger.

Where appearance is useful is in noticing change. An oil that has visibly thickened or darkened compared with how you remember it has had air and warmth working on it — though your nose confirms that faster than your eyes, since the scent flattens first. Temperature matters too: a thick-looking oil in a December cupboard is behaving normally. Judge an oil by smell, not shade.

How To Use

For aromatherapy use. For all other uses, carefully dilute with a carrier oil such as jojoba, grapeseed, olive or almond oil prior to use. Please consult an essential oil book or other professional reference source for suggested dilution ratios. For external and aromatic use only. Do not take orally. Dilute with a carrier oil and skin test before topical application. For freshness store in a cool, dry place, avoid direct sunlight.

Frequently Asked Questions

➕ What is the difference between this and Naka's standard frankincense?
The certification, and nothing else we can find. Both are 100% pure undiluted Boswellia serrata, 50ml, with identical directions; the standard bottle does not carry it.
➕ Is this the same as boswellia for joints?
No. Both come from the Boswellia tree, but joint products are a swallowed resin extract standardised for boswellic acids. This is an aromatherapy oil.
➕ What does frankincense actually smell like?
Naka describes it as sweet, woody, balsamic and earthy, and rich and musky when diffused. In practice: resinous and a little smoky, closer to incense than a floral.
➕ What does it blend well with?
Naka names lavender, orange, clary sage, ylang ylang and basil. As a base note it gives lighter oils something to sit on.
➕ My bottle looks thicker and darker than my other oils. Is that a problem?
Not in itself. Resin oils sit at the heavier, more tinted end of the shelf, and cold oil pours slowly. Judge it by scent, not appearance.
➕ Can I put it on my skin?
Only diluted. The directions call for careful dilution in a carrier oil for any use other than aromatherapy, and a skin test first.
