Etiology:

Colic is paroxysms of crying and irritability in an infant. Although the term “colic” suggests an intestinal origin, etiology is unknown.

Manifestations:

Colic may begin soon after bringing the baby home, but it more often begins a few weeks after birth and spontaneously improves between 3 and 4 months of age.
