Balzac's Swiss Water Decaf Coffee Benefits

  • Swiss Water process — Decaffeinated with water rather than solvents.
  • Brazilian coffee — A single origin rather than a blend.
  • Dark roast — Enough body that it does not taste thin.
  • Hazelnut and pepper — With an earthy base underneath.
  • Three formats — Whole bean, a ground tin, or a case of pods.
  • Roasted in Ontario — By a Canadian company with cafés across the province.
  • A real evening cup — Not a compromise on flavour.

How to Use

  1. Grind whole beans just before brewing, or spoon the ground straight from the tin.
  2. Use roughly two tablespoons per cup and water just off the boil.
  3. Reseal the bag or tin and keep it somewhere cool and dark.
  4. Pods drop straight into a single-serve brewer.

Who It's For

  • Evenings and after dinner
  • Anyone cutting down on caffeine
  • Households that want one coffee both ways

Pairs Well With

Why It Works

➕ What is the Swiss Water process?
Caffeine is drawn out using water and carbon filters rather than chemical solvents. It is the reason this decaf can be described as chemical-free.
➕ Does decaf taste worse?
It used to, when solvents stripped flavour along with the caffeine. Water-based decaffeination keeps far more of it, which is why this one still has a taste profile worth printing.
➕ Is it completely caffeine free?
No decaf is. The Swiss Water process removes the large majority, which is enough for most people in the evening.
➕ Why decaffeinate a Brazilian coffee?
Brazilian beans are naturally low in acidity and heavy in body, so they hold their character through decaffeination better than a delicate coffee would.

Frequently Asked Questions

Product Information

➕ What formats does it come in?
A 340g bag of whole beans, a 300g ground tin, or a case of six 18-count pod boxes.
➕ Is it organic?
Not this blend. The Farmers and Espresso blends are the organic ones.
➕ Is it whole bean or ground?
Both, and pods where the blend offers them. Pick the format from the menu.
➕ Where is it roasted?
In Ontario, by Balzac's Coffee Roasters.

Benefits of Ingredients

➕ What does 100% arabica mean?
Only arabica beans, no robusta, which is the harsher and more caffeinated species.
➕ How many pods in a case?
One hundred and eight, as six boxes of eighteen.
➕ Is the ground coffee in a tin?
Yes, a 300g tin rather than a bag.

Usage and Storage

➕ How should I store it?
Somewhere cool and dark, sealed. Not the fridge, which introduces moisture and other smells.
➕ How long does it stay fresh?
Best within a few weeks of opening. Whole beans hold their flavour longer than ground.
➕ Are the pods recyclable?
Check the packaging for the current guidance, which varies by municipality.
