Andrographis paniculata is a bitter-tasting herb, rich in andrographolides and primarily found in Asia. In traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine, it is thought to have antioxidant and antiviral properties. Andrographis extracts have been shown in clinical studies to shorten the duration of cough, sore throat, and sick days compared to standard care. Andrographis is also shown to exhibit potent antioxidant properties. The anti-inflammatory effects of andrographolides and andrographis extracts are proposed to extend health benefits to patients with autoimmune diseases.
AOR's Andrographis contains a high dose, single nutrient for flexible dosing of the traditional Chinese cooling herb Andrographis paniculata. This herb has been attributed to reducing recovery times and susceptibility to numerous bacterial and viral infections, including the common cold, intestinal infections, and urinary tract infections.
Many of the Andrographis formulas available have a low concentration of the active constituent andrographolides. AOR’s Andrographis is standardized to include 33% andrographolides, equivalent to 6-9g of the raw herb.
