Lutein with Zeaxanthin, 10 mg, the only carotenoids located in the eye, support eye health and visual function in people with cataracts and age-related macular degeneration. Studies show that these nutrients may help prevent, or moderate, cataracts and age-related macular degeneration (AMD) – leading causes of visual impairment and adult blindness.
Lutein is a carotenoid that is typically found in combination with its stereoisomer, zeaxanthin

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of blindness in adults 65 years or older. It affects more than 10 million people in North America and an equal number in Western Europe (Tielsch, 1994). AMD is a painless degenerative disease of the macula – the densely packed cells that enable you to see colour and fine details. When cells of the macula break down, central vision is impaired. There are few effective treatments for the disease, but diet and lifestyle changes may help reduce risk or slow progression of AMD and cataracts.
There are two basic types of AMD, dry and wet. The dry form accounts for approximately 90% of all AMD cases and generally progresses more slowly than the wet type. Both damage the macula and reduce central vision. Generally AMD sufferers retain their peripheral vision.
Two carotenoids (plant pigments) – Lutein and zeaxanthin – are the only antioxidants specifically transported into the macula and concentrated in this part of the eye. Research suggests that lutein and zeaxanthin may protect against AMD. Lutein with Zeaxanthin from webber naturals is a supplement to support eye health in people and prevent cataracts and age-related macular degeneration.
