St. Francis Licorice Details
St. Francis Licorice is a single-herb liquid extract of certified organic licorice root and stolon (Glycyrrhiza glabra). It's traditionally used as an expectorant to help relieve chest complaints such as coughs and bronchitis, and it helps relieve inflammatory conditions of the gastrointestinal tract such as gastritis. Adults and adolescents 14 and over take 1–3 mL (30–90 drops) three times daily after meals, with lower doses on the label for children aged 4 to 13. Extracted in distilled water and certified organic alcohol, it's vegan and non-GMO, in 50 ml, 100 ml and 250 ml bottles. Made in Canada by St. Francis Herb Farm.

Vitamart's Take
Licorice root is a workhorse herb for both the chest and the gut, and the St. Francis label covers both: it's an expectorant for coughs and chest complaints and a soother for gastrointestinal inflammation such as gastritis. We like that it comes with clear doses for kids from age 4 up, taken after meals. Licorice is best used for a defined stretch rather than indefinitely — if you have high blood pressure, check with a practitioner first.
How Licorice Compares
Licorice vs. Mullein
St. Francis Mullein is a cough remedy with anti-inflammatory respiratory support. Licorice adds a second use — gastrointestinal inflammation — on top of chest complaints.
Licorice vs. Marshmallow
St. Francis Marshmallow is a soothing herb for respiratory, gastric and urinary tract inflammation. Licorice is the stronger expectorant for chest complaints and coughs.
Single herb vs. RespiraCleanse
St. Francis RespiraCleanse is a multi-herb formula for cough, cold and lung infection. Licorice is one herb you can use on its own or alongside other remedies.
