Choline promotes a healthy liver by enabling it to metabolize fatty deposits. It works with inositol to help emulsify fats and cholesterol. Necessary for the synthesis of acetylcholine, which transmits impulses from one nerve to another and plays a critical role in memory function.
Inositol aids in the metabolism of fats and assists in reducing blood cholesterol. Inositol occurs in the greatest concentrations in nerve tissue. The high concentrations of inositol in nerve tissues and vital organs suggests it has an important regulatory role. Large amounts are also found in the brain, stomach, kidney, spleen, liver and heart, although levels decrease with age.
