      Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT's) are fats that are naturally found in coconut and palm kernel oil. MCT's are more easily and rapidly digested than other types of fats, as they require lower amounts of enzymes and bile acids for intestinal absorption. MCT's are metabolized very quickly in the liver and are reported to encourage an increase in energy expenditure, while decreasing fat storage. Numerous studies suggest that substituting MCT Oil for other fats in a healthy diet may therefore help to support healthy weight and body composition.

      As a dietary supplement, take one tablespoon (15 mL) 1 to 3 times daily of NOW 100% Pure MCT Oil can also be used as a substitute for conventional oils in salad dressings, sauces or cooking as a source of beneficial fatty acids. Not recommended for use in frying due to low boiling point.

        Helped grandma with Alzheimer's

        The best MCT oil is actually one that has a balance of 70/30% ratio of C8 (caprylic acid) and C10 (capric acid), but not lauric acid (C12) which takes longer to metabolize.

        It is also important that it is made from 100% coconuts, not palm oil or a blend of coconut oil and palm oil.

        Before knowing this, I was giving the Now MCT oil to my grandmother with advanced Alzheimer's for years in addition to virgin coconut oil. We saw significant increase in her cognitive functions, better mood, and responsiveness. Had we known of the benefits, we would have started giving her as soon as she got diagnosed. It would have helped her with her depression and slowed down this awful degenerative disease.

        I can't say this product is bad but there are more pure versions out there that could provide better results.

        C8 is better than C10.

        This product has C10 and C8 in it, you don't want C10, what you want is only C8. NOWsports needs to fix this. Still a great product though, the price is acceptable. C8, Caprylic Acid, the rarest fat, ~6% of coconut oil is made of it. Your liver does not need to process this rare type of MCT, and it only takes 3 steps for your body to turn it into ATP, the cellular fuel you use. Sugar takes 26 steps. This is why C8 is so good at suppressing cravings and is the most powerful oil. You would need 18 tablespoons of coconut oil to get just one tablespoon of C8. It has potent anti-microbial properties (way more potent than lauric acid) to help you maintain a healthy gut, and it is the fastest to metabolize in the brain. Now for my review, maybe you should only buy C8 without the C10. Don't take too much, it's strong stuff and can make you sick at first. I will move on to C8 only.
