Liquid fish oil is an easy way to get a high dose of omega-3s without swallowing large softgels — a spoonful can deliver far more EPA and DHA than a capsule, and it’s ideal for kids or anyone who finds pills hard to take. You’ll find regular omega-3 fish oil here alongside cod liver oil (which adds naturally occurring vitamins A and D), in flavoured and unflavoured options, plus gentle formulas for children. Omega-3s support heart, brain, and eye health.

    Why choose liquid over capsules

A spoonful of liquid fish oil can deliver far more EPA and DHA than a single softgel, so it's an efficient way to take a higher dose without swallowing several large capsules. It's also the easy choice for kids and for anyone who finds pills hard to take. The trade-off is taste — which is why most liquids come in flavours like lemon or are formulated to go down smoothly.

Fish oil vs. cod liver oil

Both supply the omega-3s EPA and DHA. The difference is that cod liver oil also contains naturally occurring vitamins A and D. That makes it a two-in-one for some people, but it's also why you shouldn't double up on vitamin A from other sources — something to be mindful of in pregnancy especially. Regular fish oil sticks to the omega-3s without the added vitamins.

    EPA and DHA

EPA and DHA are the two main omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil, and they support heart, brain, and eye health. Some liquids are formulated high in EPA, others high in DHA — DHA is the one most associated with brain and vision. For most people a balanced omega-3 is fine; the label tells you how much EPA and DHA you get per teaspoon.

    Liquid fish oil for kids

Liquids and drops suit children who can't swallow capsules, which is why so many kids' omega-3s come this way. DHA contributes to normal brain and visual development in children, and kids' formulas are dosed for smaller bodies and usually flavoured to make them easy to give. Introduce any children's supplement with guidance from your pediatrician.

    Freshness and storage

Fish oil is prone to oxidizing (going rancid), so freshness matters. Choose oils in the natural triglyceride (TG) form where you can, keep the bottle refrigerated after opening, use it within the timeframe on the label, and stop if it smells or tastes sharply off rather than mildly fishy.

    Liquid fish oil in Canada

Liquid fish oil and cod liver oil sold in Canada carry a Natural Product Number (NPN) from Health Canada and ship from our Ontario warehouse to addresses across Canada.

    A note on fish oil

High doses of omega-3 can thin the blood, so check with your healthcare provider if you take blood thinners or are scheduled for surgery. For cod liver oil, be mindful of total vitamin A intake, particularly during pregnancy, and introduce children's products with your pediatrician's guidance.
