About Colora Henna

Colora Henna makes two products: a henna powder that colours, conditions and thickens, and a cream version with an easier application. Both are hair colour — cosmetics, not supplements, and not something you take.

How henna works

Henna is a plant dye — Lawsonia inermis — whose leaves have been used to colour hair and skin for thousands of years. It works differently from a conventional dye: rather than lifting the hair's existing pigment and replacing it, henna coats and stains the hair shaft. That's why it deposits colour but can't lighten, why the colour builds with repeated use, and why it fades gradually rather than growing out at a sharp line. It's also why the result depends heavily on the colour you're starting from — the same henna gives a different outcome on dark hair than on light.

Powder or cream

The powder is the traditional format: mixed into a paste before use, which gives you control but takes longer and makes more mess. The cream is pre-mixed and applies more like a conventional dye. Same basic idea, different amount of effort.
