The 225 mg of cranberry is a concentrated 100:1 extract — the equivalent of 22,500 mg of dried fruit — and the label claim is clear: it helps prevent recurrent UTIs in women. Read the contraindications before you buy, though. It is not for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, who have heart, blood pressure, kidney or liver conditions, diabetes or edema, or who take diuretics. If it suits you, give it at least four weeks, and keep it away from citrus juice.
