Vitamart's Take
Valerian is one of the best-known herbs for sleep, and this is a clean way to take it: certified organic root, a stated 1:4 strength of 250 mg QCE per mL, and nothing else but water and organic alcohol. The flexible label directions are a real plus — you can take it up to three times a day for nervousness, or as a single dose 30 to 60 minutes before bedtime. If you want valerian blended with other calming herbs, look at ValeriCalm instead.
How Valerian Liquid Compares
Tincture vs. valerian capsules
St. Francis Valerian 5:1 capsules give you a concentrated powder extract in a vegetable capsule you swallow whole. The tincture lets you adjust your dose by the drop and is easy to take in a little water.
Single herb vs. ValeriCalm
ValeriCalm blends passionflower and valerian with other calming herbs. Choose plain Valerian if you want one herb only, or if you are sensitive to daisy-family plants such as chamomile.
Valerian vs. passion flower
St. Francis Passion Flower is another calming herb for restlessness and sleep. Some people rotate the two or use them together under a practitioner's guidance.
