Naka Platinum Tart Cherry Details

Naka Platinum Tart Cherry concentrates US-origin tart cherries (Prunus cerasus, fruit) into a 480 mg extract at a 50:1 ratio — a quantity crude equivalent of 24,000 mg of fruit per capsule, standardized to not less than 2% proanthocyanidins and made carrier free. One capsule a day, 125 to a bottle, is the whole routine. Most people buy it for two reasons: tart cherry's reputation as a natural sleep aid, and for easing muscle soreness after training.

Naka positions this as a nutrient-rich concentrate rather than a single isolated compound: a rich source of nutrients for overall health, with support for strength and muscle recovery, restful sleep, immune function and antioxidant protection against oxidative stress. Naka also notes the cherry's natural compounds may aid in reducing symptoms of gout, contributing to joint health, and that tart cherries have been associated with promoting brain health. Made in Canada, vegan and gluten-free.

Who Tart Cherry Is For

  • People who want help winding down at night without a melatonin or a sedative herb
  • Runners, lifters and anyone training hard enough that next-day soreness is the limiting factor
  • Shoppers who have tried tart cherry juice and want the same fruit without the sugar load or the fridge space
  • Anyone managing gout symptoms who has read about cherries and wants a concentrated form
  • Those who prefer a whole-fruit concentrate to an isolated compound
  • People who want a one-capsule-a-day habit rather than a powder to measure or a drink to mix

Who this product is NOT for: If you need to fall asleep tonight, this is the wrong tool — a direct sleep formula like Naka Platinum Pro Sleep with melatonin, L-theanine and GABA, or Naka Platinum Sleep Spray, acts on a far shorter timeline. If joint pain rather than recovery is the issue, a curcumin such as Naka Platinum Liposomal Curcumin is the better-matched category, and for gout specifically Naka Platinum Gout Relief is formulated for it. And if you want tart cherry for hydration and electrolytes around training, that is a different product type entirely.

Vitamart's Take

Tart cherry is one of the few supplement ingredients where the format matters more than the marketing. The juice works, but it takes a sizeable glass to get a meaningful amount of fruit, and that glass brings its own sugars. A 50:1 extract at 480 mg does the same job from one capsule, and the carrier free note tells you the 480 mg is extract rather than extract blended down with filler to hit a number.

What we would not do is oversell the sleep angle. Tart cherry is a gentle, cumulative ingredient — people who get something from it usually describe better sleep quality over a couple of weeks rather than falling asleep faster on night one. The standardization is to proanthocyanidins at not less than 2%, which is a modest marker rather than a high-specification one, and 2% of 480 mg is not a large absolute amount. Treat this as a well-made whole-fruit concentrate at a sensible dose, and give it a few weeks before deciding.

How Tart Cherry Compares

Tart cherry comes in three shapes on our shelves, and they are not interchangeable.

  • Versus tart cherry juice or concentrate: Juice delivers the fruit in a drinkable form, with the sugars and the fridge requirement that come with it. A 24,000 mg QCE capsule is the same fruit load without either, and it travels.
  • Versus powders and gummies: Both are usually a far lower fruit equivalent per serving, with sweeteners added to make them palatable. This is the concentrated end of the category.
  • Versus a melatonin sleep aid: Melatonin acts on sleep timing directly and quickly. Tart cherry is slower and gentler, and the two are sometimes used together rather than instead of one another.
  • Versus a joint formula: If your goal is joint comfort rather than recovery from exercise, a curcumin, MSM or glucosamine product targets it more directly — see Joint Health.

What Do 50:1 and 24,000 mg QCE Mean?

These two numbers describe the same thing from opposite ends. A 50:1 extract means 50 units of raw cherry were processed down to produce one unit of finished extract. QCE — quantity crude equivalent — runs that arithmetic forward for you: 480 mg of a 50:1 extract began life as 24,000 mg, or 24 grams, of tart cherry fruit. Reading a label without both figures is how people end up comparing a concentrated extract with a bottle of milled fruit powder and assuming the milligram counts mean the same thing. They do not.

"Carrier free" is the other phrase worth decoding. Extracts are often dried onto a carrier — maltodextrin or rice flour — to keep them flowing and stable, which means some portion of the stated weight is not extract. Carrier free says the 480 mg is the extract itself. The standardization to not less than 2% proanthocyanidins is a consistency guarantee: proanthocyanidins are the pigmented compounds that give tart cherries their deep colour, and holding them to a floor means each batch is measured against the same marker rather than simply being whatever that harvest produced.

How To Use

Adults take 1 capsule 1 time per day.

Frequently Asked Questions

➕ Should I take it in the morning or at night?
Naka's label is one capsule once a day without specifying timing. People taking it for sleep quality usually take it in the evening; people taking it for recovery often take it after training.
➕ Does it contain melatonin?
No. This is a tart cherry fruit extract and nothing else — there is no added melatonin on the panel. For a product built around melatonin, look at a dedicated sleep formula.
➕ How does one capsule compare to a glass of tart cherry juice?
One capsule is the equivalent of 24,000 mg — 24 grams — of tart cherry fruit, concentrated 50 to 1. It gets you a comparable fruit load without the sugars that come with juice.
➕ How long before I notice anything?
Tart cherry is cumulative rather than immediate. Give it two to four weeks of daily use before judging it, particularly if sleep quality is what you are watching.
➕ Can I take more than one capsule?
Naka's directions are one capsule once a day. Anything beyond the label serving is a conversation for your health care practitioner.
➕ What does "standardized to 2% proanthocyanidins" tell me?
It is a batch-to-batch consistency floor. Every lot is measured against the same marker compound, so a capsule from one bottle is comparable to a capsule from the next.
