Naka Platinum Magnesium Bisglycinate Powder 400mg Plus BioActive B6 Details
Naka Platinum Magnesium Bisglycinate Powder 400mg Plus BioActive B6 is an unflavoured mixing powder giving 400mg of elemental magnesium from fully reacted magnesium bisglycinate plus 15mg of vitamin B6 as pyridoxal 5'-phosphate, in one 5.8g scoop. It is the highest elemental magnesium per serving in the Naka range, and the only one you can halve — the label's own half scoop is 200mg.
Magnesium is needed to metabolise carbohydrates, proteins and fats, and for healthy bones and teeth, proper muscle function and overall good health. Naka goes further: they say the formula lowers blood pressure and supports the heart, nervous system and cellular energy, and that the B6 supports muscle cramps and restless leg syndrome and reduces migraines and symptoms of PMS.

Who This Magnesium Powder Is For
- Anyone who wants 400mg of elemental magnesium without swallowing two or three capsules
- People who want to control the amount — half a scoop is 200mg, a full scoop 400mg, nothing to cut
- Anyone who has quietly given up on magnesium capsules because of their size
- Buyers who want the activated P-5-P form of B6 rather than plain pyridoxine
- Households dosing a teenager — Naka's directions cover ages 9 to 18 at half a scoop
- People who want magnesium, B6 and citric acid, with no flavouring, sweetener or colour
Who this product is NOT for: If you want a pill, the capsule version of this formula is the better buy — Naka Platinum Magnesium Bisglycinate 200mg Plus BioActive B6 gives 200mg of elemental magnesium with a higher 25mg of P-5-P across 230 capsules. If you want magnesium that tastes of something, Naka Magnesium Citrate Calming Powder is flavoured berry. And if you would rather pour than stir, Naka Platinum Liposomal Magnesium Bisglycinate Liquid is ready to drink.
Vitamart's Take
We stock this for two things no capsule here can do. First, 400mg of elemental magnesium in one serving — nothing else in the Naka line gets past 250mg. Second, real dose control: magnesium is one of the few minerals where the right amount varies between people, and a scoop you can fill halfway beats a fixed capsule for anyone still finding their tolerance.
The trade-off is the size of the tub. At the panel's own figure the 100g is seventeen full scoops — under three weeks at a scoop a day. Cost per milligram is higher here than in any Naka capsule, and you have to mix a drink daily rather than swallow something. Buy the 200g if you have decided this is your magnesium; if stirring a glass every morning sounds like a chore you will drop by week two, buy the capsules and accept 200mg.
How This Magnesium Powder Compares
Across the Naka range the variables are elemental dose per serving, what rides alongside it, and format. This wins on dose and loses on servings per purchase.
- Versus the capsule version: Magnesium Bisglycinate 200mg Plus BioActive B6 is the same pairing with the proportions flipped — half the magnesium, more B6 at 25mg, 230 capsules instead of 17 scoops.
- Versus plain bisglycinate: Naka Herbs Magnesium Bisglycinate 200mg drops the B6 and gives single-source chelated magnesium in 120 or 260 capsules at a far lower cost per day.
- Versus the top capsule dose: Naka Platinum Magnesium Malate 250mg is the most magnesium Naka fits in one capsule, with 500mg of malic acid instead of B6.
- Versus the wider shelf: Magnesium Powder Supplements, where unflavoured options are the minority.
What Is BioActive B6, and Why Pair It With Magnesium?
Most vitamin B6 on the shelf is pyridoxine hydrochloride, which is not the molecule your enzymes use. The body has to convert it — first to pyridoxal, then phosphorylate it into pyridoxal 5'-phosphate, or P-5-P. That phosphate-bearing version is the coenzyme form, the one that docks into the enzymes shuttling amino groups between amino acids, building neurotransmitters and assembling the haem in haemoglobin. Naka's BioActive B6 supplies P-5-P directly, which is what bioactive means on the label.
It belongs beside magnesium because magnesium runs that conversion. Pyridoxal kinase, the enzyme attaching the phosphate group, is magnesium-dependent — it works on magnesium-ATP. Plain pyridoxine is therefore only as useful as your magnesium status allows, which makes these two halves of one system rather than two ingredients sharing a bottle.
How To Use
Adolescents (9–18 years): half a scoop, once per day. Adults: half a scoop to one scoop, once per day. Mix the product well into 1 cup of liquid — water, juice or similar — before drinking. Some people may experience diarrhoea.
