Naka Platinum Extra Strength Zinc 50 Bisglycinate Details
Naka Platinum Extra Strength Zinc 50 Bisglycinate delivers 50mg of elemental zinc as zinc bisglycinate — zinc chelated to the amino acid glycine — in a one-a-day vegetable capsule, available in 150 and 300 capsule bottles. Zinc bisglycinate is highly bioavailable, which is the reason to choose this over a plain mineral salt at the same dose.
Naka Platinum Zinc 50 is recommended to help boost immune health, aid in wound healing and treating acne, as well as decrease inflammation. It is vegan, non-GMO and gluten-free, made in Canada, and the 300 capsule bottle is ten months of daily use.

Who Zinc 50 Bisglycinate Is For
- Anyone who wants the full 50mg of elemental zinc but in a chelated form rather than a mineral salt
- People who prefer a vegetable capsule to a pressed tablet — easier to swallow, and it opens if you need it to
- Those who have found plain zinc salts unpleasant and want the gentlest-feeling 50mg option Naka makes
- Shoppers taking zinc for immune health, wound healing, acne or inflammation, as the supplier describes
- Households that need vegan, gluten-free and egg-free in the same bottle
- Long-term daily users, for whom the 300 capsule size works out to ten months
Who this product is NOT for: If cost per day is your deciding factor, Naka Platinum Extra Strength Zinc 50mg from zinc citrate gives you the identical 50mg of elemental zinc for noticeably less, in a 210 tablet bottle — the chelate is what you are paying the difference for. If 50mg is more zinc than you want on a daily basis, Naka Platinum Extra Strength Zinc 25 is the 25mg picolinate capsule. If you want zinc and copper together from one bottle, take Naka Platinum Extra Strength Zinc and Copper, which adds 8mg of elemental copper. And if capsules are not happening at all, Naka Platinum Liquid Zinc 30 Bisglycinate is the same chelate in a 600ml liquid at 30mg.
Vitamart's Take
Of the three Naka Platinum zincs, this is the one we recommend to people who intend to take zinc every day for a long time. The form is the whole argument: bisglycinate is a true amino acid chelate, the supplier describes it as highly bioavailable, and in our experience it is the 50mg zinc customers come back for rather than abandon halfway down the bottle.
The trade-off is simply price. The citrate version sitting beside it on our shelf delivers the same 50mg of elemental zinc for a lower cost per day, and we will not pretend the chelate is a different nutrient. What you are buying is the carrier and the capsule, not more zinc. If that matters to you — and for daily, year-round use we think it often does — this is the right bottle. If it does not, buy the citrate and spend the difference on vitamin D.
How Zinc 50 Bisglycinate Compares
All three Naka zincs state elemental zinc on the label, so the comparison is honest: the variables are dose and carrier.
- Versus Naka Platinum Zinc 50mg Citrate: Identical 50mg of elemental zinc. That one is a pressed tablet in a 210 count at a lower cost per day; this is a bisglycinate chelate in a vegetable capsule. Same dose, different carrier.
- Versus Naka Platinum Zinc 25 Picolinate: Half the elemental zinc, also chelated, also a vegetable capsule. The choice there is about how much zinc you want per day, not about absorption.
- Versus magnesium bisglycinate: The same chelation chemistry applied to a different mineral — if you already take magnesium bisglycinate and like how it sits, this is the zinc equivalent.
- Versus the whole category: Browse Zinc Bisglycinate Supplements to compare elemental dose and capsule count across brands.
What Is Zinc Bisglycinate?
A chelate is a mineral held inside a larger carrier molecule like a claw. In zinc bisglycinate, two molecules of glycine — the smallest amino acid — wrap around a single zinc ion. That changes how the zinc behaves on its way through the gut. A plain mineral salt dissociates in the stomach and releases free zinc ions, which then compete for absorption with other minerals and can interact with the contents of a meal. A glycine-chelated zinc stays largely intact and can use amino acid and dipeptide transport routes in the small intestine, which is the basis of the bioavailability claim the supplier makes.
Glycine is a useful carrier for a second reason: it is not a foreign molecule. Your body makes it, uses it in collagen, and metabolises the leftover without ceremony. The practical upshot is a 50mg zinc dose that tends to sit more comfortably than the same amount of zinc delivered as a salt — which, when a supplement is meant to be taken daily for years, is the difference between a bottle you finish and one you do not.
How To Use
Adults: Take 1 capsule 1 time per day. Take with food, a few hours before or after taking other medications or natural health products.
