Naka Platinum Essential Prenatal Multivitamin Details
Naka Platinum Essential Prenatal Multivitamin is a full-spectrum prenatal built on activated nutrient forms — 1,000 mcg of L-methylfolate from calcium l-5-methyltetrahydrofolate, 1,000 mcg of B12 as methylcobalamin and 30 mg of iron as iron glycinate per three-capsule serving, among 25 vitamins and minerals. Naka's description is short: Essential Prenatal includes several nutrients you need to support a healthy pregnancy, in their cleanest and most absorbable forms.
The formula is 3rd party tested and made in Canada, with no artificial colours or flavours. It is vegetarian, gluten free, non-GMO, dairy free, egg free, soy free, wheat free and sugar free, in vegetable capsules, and sold as a 30-capsule bottle or a 150-capsule bonus size.

Who Essential Prenatal Is For
- Anyone who wants folate as methylfolate rather than folic acid, at 1,000 mcg
- People who would rather not add a separate iron supplement — 30 mg of iron glycinate is already here
- Buyers who read panels and want activated B forms — P5P rather than pyridoxine, methylcobalamin rather than cyanocobalamin
- Those who want choline counted in, at 200 mg per serving
- Shoppers avoiding gluten, dairy, egg, soy, wheat and added sugar
Who this product is NOT for: If swallowing three capsules a day is the problem, a one-a-day or a gummy prenatal is the realistic choice. If you are not pregnant and just want a thorough daily multivitamin, the iron here is higher than a general formula carries and Naka Platinum Bioactive Multi for Women fits better. And if a practitioner has you on a specific iron dose, Naka Platinum Ultra Iron 25mg lets you set that independently.
Vitamart's Take
Two things make this stand out on the prenatal shelf, and neither is the ingredient count. The folate is methylfolate and the B12 is methylcobalamin — activated forms, not the lower-cost raw materials most prenatals use. And the iron is a glycinate chelate rather than a ferrous salt, which is the most consequential choice in a prenatal, because iron is the ingredient people most often stop taking. Naka also 3rd party tests the formula, which we would rather see than take on trust.
The honest part: this is discontinued at the supplier, so what is on the shelf is what remains in either size. Three capsules a day is also a genuine ask, and the 30-capsule bottle is ten servings — a trial size, not a month. If the formula suits you, the 150-capsule bonus size is the one to buy while it lasts. We are not going to tell you which prenatal to take; we have set out what is in the bottle so you can take that question to your practitioner with the panel in front of you.
How Essential Prenatal Compares
Prenatals differ more in form than in ingredient list. The questions worth asking are which folate, which iron, how many capsules, and what else is in or out.
- Versus folic acid prenatals: most use folic acid, which the body has to convert. This supplies 1,000 mcg of L-methylfolate directly — compare the rest of Prenatal Multivitamins on that line first.
- Versus separate iron: Naka Platinum Ultra Iron 25mg is iron bisglycinate alone, for anyone who wants that dose under their own control.
- Versus heme iron: Naka Platinum Heme Iron 11mg pairs a small animal-derived iron with methylfolate and methylcobalamin, but is not a multivitamin.
- Versus a general multivitamin: Naka Platinum Bioactive Multi for Women covers the basics without prenatal-level iron and folate.
Why Methylfolate Rather Than Folic Acid?
Folate is the natural form of vitamin B9; folic acid is the synthetic one used in fortification and most supplements because it is stable and inexpensive. Neither is what the body uses. The usable form is 5-methyltetrahydrofolate — the version that circulates in blood and does the work — and folic acid passes through several enzyme steps to get there. That conversion works for most people and is slower in some.
L-methylfolate skips the queue: calcium l-5-methyltetrahydrofolate is that circulating form supplied directly. It is the same logic Naka applies across the formula — methylcobalamin rather than cyanocobalamin, pyridoxal-5'-phosphate rather than plain pyridoxine, riboflavin-5'-phosphate for B2 — which is what the brand means by the cleanest and most absorbable forms. Naka lists the formula's intended benefits as reducing the risk of birth defects, reducing the risk of developing preeclampsia, preventing iron-deficiency anemia, reducing the risk of preterm delivery, low birth weight and infant mortality, providing calcium for your child's development, helping to prevent calcium deficiency, reducing the risk of your child developing rickets, and helping to prevent vitamin D deficiency.
How To Use
The nutrition panel lists a serving as 3 vegetable capsules. Naka does not print a separate directions statement for this product, so follow the directions on the bottle you receive.
