Corn silk is the fine golden threads under the husk of a corn cob — the part everyone peels off and throws away. In herbal medicine it has a long-standing and unusually specific set of uses, all of them urinary.
It is traditionally used in Herbal Medicine to relieve bedwetting in children, as a diuretic and urinary demulcent, and to relieve and soothe minor bladder irritations. Demulcent is the operative word: corn silk is mucilaginous, meaning it coats and soothes irritated tissue rather than simply flushing it.
Made from corn silk (Zea mays, stigma) at 250 mg Quantity Crude Equivalent per millilitre, in a base of distilled water and certified organic alcohol. 50 ml with a dropper.
