Naka Platinum Pure Sweet Organic Almond Oil Details
Naka Platinum Pure Sweet Organic Almond Oil is 100% pure cold-pressed organic sweet almond oil in a 270ml UV-protected bottle — a hexane-free single-ingredient oil that moisturizes and soothes dry skin. Who This Sweet Almond Oil Is For
- Anyone making their own hair masks — Naka calls this a great hair mask oil, and 270ml actually soaks mid-lengths and ends
- People with dry skin who want a plain oil rather than a lotion with a dozen other ingredients
- Home blenders who need a bulk base for roll-ons, massage blends and body oils
- Massage use, where almond's slower absorption gives you working time
- Shoppers who want organic and cold pressed stated on the label, with no solvent used to extract it
Who this product is NOT for: if you avoid nut-derived ingredients, this is pressed from almonds and Naka Platinum Pure Jojoba Oil or Naka Fractionated Coconut MCT Oil are the neutral alternatives. If you want the lightest facial oil that disappears in seconds, almond is richer than you're after — jojoba again. And for an oil that stays put overnight on heels or lashes, Naka Platinum Organic Castor Oil is far more tenacious. This is a topical beauty oil, not a supplement.
Vitamart's Take
Sweet almond oil is the workhorse of the carrier oil shelf — the one massage therapists go through by the litre, and the one most DIY skin care recipes assume you already own. It sits in the middle of everything: richer than jojoba or fractionated coconut, lighter than castor or avocado, with enough slip to spread over a back and enough body to leave dry skin conditioned rather than merely wet.
What we like about this bottle is that the specification is complete: cold pressed, hexane free, organic, 100% pure, nothing added, UV-protected packaging — most of which commodity almond oil quietly omits. The trade-off is honest. Almond is fuller-bodied than jojoba, so it absorbs more slowly and some people read that as greasy. Applied at bedtime that is a feature; applied in the morning before getting dressed it isn't.
How This Sweet Almond Oil Compares
Among single-ingredient carrier oils, almond competes on volume, feel and price per millilitre rather than any one signature benefit.
- Versus Naka Platinum Pure Jojoba Oil: same size, two feels. Jojoba is lighter, nearly odourless and the safer bet on a face; almond is richer and the better value for hair masks and whole-body use.
- Versus Naka Pure Avocado Oil: avocado is heavier again in a 130ml bottle, so it reads as a targeted treatment oil. Almond at 270ml is the one you use freely.
- Versus a drugstore almond oil: most are refined and solvent-extracted, which is why they are pale, odourless and lower-cost. This one states cold pressed and hexane free, and keeps the subtle aroma that tells you it wasn't deodorised.
- Versus a body lotion: a lotion is oil plus water plus emulsifiers and preservatives. This is the oil alone — better over damp skin, with a one-line ingredient list.
What Does Cold Pressed Mean For A Nut Oil?
Almonds are about half oil by weight, and there are two ways to get it out. Cold pressing is mechanical: the kernels are crushed and squeezed without added heat, and whatever doesn't come out stays in the press cake. That lowers the yield per tonne of almonds — the whole reason cold-pressed oil costs more. Heat and solvents both raise the yield, hexane most of all, which is why industrial almond oil is usually solvent-extracted. "Hexane free" means that shortcut wasn't taken.
The second step is where most almond oil you've met diverges from this one. Conventional oil is refined: degummed, neutralised with alkali, bleached through clay and deodorised with steam. The result is pale, scentless and very stable — the almond oil of mass-market cosmetics. But refining is subtractive, and it strips the minor plant components carrying the oil's faint nutty aroma and golden cast along with what it is meant to remove. Hence the practical signal: an unrefined nut oil has a subtle aroma, exactly as Naka describes this one, while a refined one has none. If your bottle smells faintly of almond, nothing is wrong with it.
