Who Nutri NAC Is For

  • Anyone trying NAC for the first time — 600mg is the standard unit dose and the sensible place to start
  • People who want a product formulated to help relieve the symptoms associated with chronic bronchitis
  • Anyone after an antioxidant for the maintenance of good health in a single daily capsule
  • People who find a 1000mg tablet too large to swallow comfortably and want the same nutrient in capsule form
  • Anyone who wants to control their own total dose — two of these gives 1200mg, one gives 600mg
  • Shoppers who need Vegan, Gluten Free, Non-GMO and Sugar Free with a three-item excipient list

Who this product is NOT for: If you already know NAC suits you and you take 1200mg a day, stop swallowing two capsules — Naka Platinum Ultra NAC 1000mg gets you most of the way there in one tablet. If you want NAC as part of a glutathione-building stack with its cofactors, Enhanced NAC 600mg with Taurine, Selenium and Molybdenum is the formula built for that. And if what you actually want is glutathione itself rather than the precursor your body converts into it, buy a glutathione supplement and skip the conversion step.

Vitamart's Take

This is the NAC we point first-time buyers at, and the reason is dose control. NAC is a sulphur compound and not everyone's stomach gets along with it immediately. 600mg once daily with food is a dose you can assess honestly, and if it suits you, two capsules gets you to 1200mg without buying a different product. Starting at a full gram and working backwards is the wrong order.

The trade-offs are worth naming. At one capsule daily a 150-count bottle runs five months, which is excellent value per day but a real commitment if NAC turns out not to agree with you — there is no small size here. And the formula is plain NAC: no selenium, no molybdenum, no taurine. That is a feature if you want a single-ingredient product you can stack yourself, and a limitation if you were hoping one bottle would cover the whole glutathione pathway. Decide which of those you are buying before you order.

How Nutri NAC Compares

Three things separate NAC products on a Canadian shelf: milligrams per unit, capsule versus tablet, and plain versus blended.

  • Versus 1000mg tablets: Naka Platinum Ultra NAC 1000mg is the max-potency route for people already settled on NAC. This is the easier-swallowing capsule with finer dose control.
  • Versus blended NAC: Enhanced NAC 600mg keeps the same 600mg and adds taurine, selenium and molybdenum in 75 capsules. More complete, shorter bottle.
  • Versus taking glutathione: Naka Platinum Glutathione+ 125mg supplies Setria glutathione directly. NAC supplies the raw material your cells build it from, at far less per day.
  • Versus the broader category: across the NAC supplements we carry, 500mg and 600mg dominate. 150 capsules at 600mg is one of the longest-running single-ingredient bottles in it.

Why Is NAC Sold At 600mg?

600mg is not an arbitrary round number — it is the unit dose NAC has been manufactured and studied at for decades, long enough that it became the default on supplement shelves worldwide. The reason it settled there is practical: 600mg fits into a single capsule of swallowable size while delivering roughly 450mg of actual cysteine once the acetyl group comes off, a meaningful addition to the sulphur amino acid you get from food. Push much past that in one unit and you are into tablet territory.

The dose matters because cysteine is the bottleneck. Glutathione is a tripeptide of glutamate, glycine and cysteine, and your cells have plenty of the first two. Cysteine is in short supply, so the rate at which your cells rebuild glutathione is set by how much cysteine is available. That makes NAC a supply-side supplement: you are not taking an antioxidant, you are taking the limiting ingredient for the one your cells make themselves.

How To Use

Directions: 1 capsule daily, with a meal.

Frequently Asked Questions

➕ Should I buy the 600mg capsule or the 1000mg tablet?
600mg if you are new to NAC or want to adjust your dose capsule by capsule. 1000mg if you already take a gram a day and would rather swallow one unit than two.
➕ Can I take two capsules a day?
The label direction is one capsule daily with a meal. Two would bring you to 1200mg, which is more than the label calls for — worth raising with a health care practitioner rather than deciding alone.
➕ Why with a meal?
That is the label direction, and it is also the practical answer — NAC can sit heavily on an empty stomach, and food is the simplest way around it.
➕ What is the difference between NAC and glutathione?
NAC supplies cysteine, the limiting ingredient your cells need to build glutathione. A glutathione supplement gives you the finished molecule. NAC costs much less per day; glutathione skips the conversion.
➕ Is this plain NAC or a blend?
Plain. 600mg of N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine with cellulose, magnesium stearate and hypromellose and nothing else. If you want cofactors included, the Enhanced NAC version adds taurine, selenium and molybdenum.
➕ Does it smell like sulphur?
A faint sulphurous note when you open the bottle is normal — NAC is a sulphur-containing compound and that is simply what it smells like. Keep it closed in a cool, dry place.
