Naka Platinum Norwegian Omega-3 Wild Caught Fish Oil Details

Naka Platinum Norwegian Omega-3 Wild Caught Fish Oil delivers 1430 mg of triglyceride (TG) form fish oil per softgel, providing 572 mg EPA and 429 mg DHA from wild-caught anchovy, sardine and mackerel. That is 1,001 mg of actual EPA plus DHA in one softgel — the real reason people buy it.

Most fish oil capsules give you 180 mg to 500 mg of combined EPA and DHA each, so a meaningful daily intake means swallowing three or four. This one gets there in one. Molecularly distilled, tested for purity, potency and freshness, and made in Canada.

Who This Omega-3 Softgel Is For

  • Anyone tired of three or four small fish oil capsules a day to reach a worthwhile EPA and DHA intake
  • People buying omega-3 for heart and cardiovascular support, where EPA is the fraction that matters most
  • Anyone wanting brain, focus and memory support from DHA without a liquid oil on the breakfast table
  • People managing joint stiffness who want omega-3s in a joint routine
  • Travellers who need a dose that fits in a pocket and needs no refrigerating

Who this product is NOT for: If you avoid fish, the shell is bovine gelatin and the oil is fish — look at Naka Platinum Vegan Omega-3 Algae Oil instead. If you want vitamins A and D with your omega-3s, fish body oil does not carry them in any meaningful amount but Naka Platinum Icelandic Cod Liver Oil does. And if swallowing a large softgel is the problem, the Pro Omega-3 Fish Oil Liquid gives more omega-3 per serving with nothing to swallow.

Vitamart's Take

We stock a lot of fish oil, and most of it is sold on the total milligrams on the front of the bottle rather than the EPA and DHA numbers that do the work. This one is honest about the ratio: 1430 mg of oil carrying 1,001 mg of EPA and DHA, roughly 70% omega-3 by weight. That is genuinely concentrated rather than marketing arithmetic.

The trade-off is physical: a softgel holding 1430 mg of oil is a big softgel, and some people do not get on with them. The dosing range is wide too — at 3 a day a 160-count bottle lasts under two months, so at the top of that range the liquid is more economical.

How This Omega-3 Softgel Compares

The only comparison worth making between omega-3 products is EPA and DHA per serving, not total oil per serving. On that basis:

  • Versus a standard 1000 mg fish oil capsule: a typical one gives about 180 mg EPA and 120 mg DHA. This gives 572 mg and 429 mg — roughly three capsules in one.
  • Versus Naka Platinum Pro Omega-3 Fish Oil Liquid: 800 mg EPA and 500 mg DHA per teaspoon, so stronger per serving and further per dollar. The softgel wins on convenience, portability and shelf stability — the liquid needs refrigerating once opened.
  • Versus Naka Platinum Icelandic Cod Liver Oil: far less EPA and DHA per softgel (100 mg and 112.5 mg) but it brings vitamin A and vitamin D3. Buy this one for dose, cod liver oil for the fat-soluble vitamins.
  • Versus plant omega-3s: flax and chia supply ALA, which the body converts to EPA and DHA at a low, unreliable rate. Fish oil skips the conversion. See Plant Omega Supplements if you need that route.

Why "1430 mg Fish Oil" Is Not 1430 mg of Omega-3

This is the most common misreading on a fish oil label. Fish oil is a mixture of fats, and only part of it is EPA and DHA — the two long-chain omega-3s the research is built on. The rest is other fatty acids along for the ride. A bottle advertising "1000 mg fish oil" may hold only 300 mg of EPA and DHA; one advertising 1430 mg might hold 1,001 mg. The front label cannot tell you which.

The number you want is the sum of the EPA and DHA lines on the nutrition panel. Here they read 572 mg and 429 mg. Compare fish oils that way and the price picture changes — a lower-cost bottle holding a third of the omega-3 is not actually lower-cost. This formula also uses triglyceride (TG) form oil, closer to the way omega-3s occur in food, which supports better absorption.

How To Use

Adults: take 1 to 3 Naka Platinum Norwegian Omega-3 Wild Caught Fish Oil Softgels 1 time per day. Omega-3s are best taken with a meal containing some fat, which supports absorption. Ask a health care practitioner before use if you have psychological disorders such as anxiety or depression or if symptoms worsen. For freshness, store in a cool, dry place.

Frequently Asked Questions

➕ How much EPA and DHA do I actually get per softgel?
572 mg EPA and 429 mg DHA, for a combined 1,001 mg of long-chain omega-3 from 1430 mg of fish oil. Both figures are per single softgel.
➕ What fish is this made from?
Wild-caught anchovy, sardine and mackerel — deep-sea, non-farmed. It is fish body oil, not liver oil, and is molecularly distilled to help remove contaminants.
➕ Should I choose these softgels or the Pro Omega-3 liquid?
Softgels for convenience, travel and no taste. The liquid for a higher dose per serving, if you would rather not swallow capsules, or if you are dosing a child — its directions cover ages 1 and up.
➕ Will this cause fishy burps?
Far less than poorly purified oils do. The oil is molecularly distilled and sealed in a softgel, so there is no taste going down. Taking it with a full meal is the usual fix if any aftertaste shows up.
➕ What is the softgel shell made of?
Gelatin from a BSE-free bovine source that is Halal certified, plus glycerin from a vegetable source, purified water and vitamin E, which protects the oil from oxidising.
➕ Do I still need this if my multivitamin says it supports heart health?
Almost certainly. Very few multivitamins contain omega-3 at all, and those that do carry a token amount. Check the panel for EPA and DHA lines rather than the claim on the front.

Pairs Well With

  • Heart Health — EPA is the omega-3 most associated with cardiovascular support
  • Brain & Cognitive Health — DHA is a structural fat in the brain; pair it with the formulas here
  • Joint Health — omega-3s are taken alongside glucosamine or collagen, not instead of them
  • CoQ10 — the other fat-soluble nutrient added for heart support, and it absorbs better with an oil
