Naka Platinum Enhanced NAC 600mg Details

Naka Platinum Enhanced NAC 600mg is the blended member of Naka's NAC range: 600 mg of N-acetyl cysteine per vegetable capsule, fortified with 250 mg of taurine, 50 mcg of selenium as selenomethionine and 50 mcg of molybdenum as molybdenum bisglycinate. One capsule daily with meals, 75 to a bottle. What the "Enhanced" is doing is adding the three nutrients that sit alongside NAC in sulphur metabolism, rather than adding more NAC.

Naka describes the formula as crafted to promote normal growth and development while supporting thyroid function and nutrient metabolism, and as acting as an antioxidant protecting cells against oxidative stress and free radical damage. It contains no added gluten, nuts, eggs, animal products, dairy products, fish or shellfish, soy, wheat or yeast. Vegan, Gluten Free and Non-GMO. Made in Canada.

Who Enhanced NAC Is For

  • People who already take NAC and want the cofactors in the same capsule instead of buying selenium and taurine separately.
  • Anyone wanting a product that supports the normal function of the thyroid gland alongside its NAC — the selenium is what carries that.
  • Those who want an antioxidant formula rather than a single antioxidant ingredient.
  • Shoppers who need Vegan, Gluten Free and Non-GMO on one label with a three-item excipient list.
  • Anyone who finds four bottles on the counter harder to keep up with than one.

Who this product is NOT for: If NAC is all you want, do not pay for the extras — Naka Platinum Nutri NAC 600mg is the same NAC dose in a 150-capsule bottle, twice the capsules for a single ingredient. If you take a gram a day, Naka Platinum Ultra NAC 1000mg is the max-potency route. If the thyroid is your actual reason for shopping, 50 mcg of selenium is a modest amount — Naka Platinum Selenium 200mcg or Naka Platinum Ultra Thyroid are built for it. And if you want the finished molecule rather than its precursor, buy a glutathione supplement.

Vitamart's Take

Of the three NACs Naka makes, this is the one we find hardest to explain and the easiest to defend once explained. It is not a stronger NAC — the NAC dose is identical to the plain 600 mg capsule. What you are buying is the rest of the sulphur pathway: taurine, which cysteine itself converts into, plus the two trace minerals that the enzymes downstream of cysteine depend on. For a customer who had already worked out they wanted selenium with their NAC, one capsule beats three.

The trade-off is bottle size. 75 capsules at one a day is about two and a half months, where the plain Nutri NAC runs five months at the same NAC dose. So you are paying for the cofactors twice over, in ingredients and in capsules per bottle. The other thing worth saying plainly: if you take a multivitamin already, you may well be getting selenium and molybdenum from it, in which case the plain NAC is the more sensible purchase.

How Enhanced NAC Compares

Across Naka's NAC range the variables are the NAC dose, the format, and whether anything else comes with it.

  • Versus plain NAC at the same dose: Nutri NAC 600mg gives the identical 600 mg in 150 capsules with no additions. Longer bottle, simpler label, lower cost per day.
  • Versus the 1000mg tablet: Ultra NAC 1000mg is a full gram of NAC per tablet and nothing else. More NAC, no cofactors, and a tablet rather than a capsule.
  • Versus assembling it yourself: a NAC, a taurine and a selenium bought separately give you far more of each and full control over the ratios — at three bottles and three doses.
  • Versus the wider category: on the NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine) Supplements shelf, most products are single-ingredient. Blends that include the mineral cofactors are the minority.

Why NAC with Taurine, Selenium and Molybdenum?

These four are not a marketing bundle — they are four points on one metabolic route. NAC is the stable, absorbable form of the amino acid cysteine, and cysteine is where the route begins. Once your body has it, cysteine goes three ways. It can be built into glutathione, the cell's main antioxidant. It can be converted into taurine, which is itself a sulphur-containing compound and the end point of that branch. Or it can be broken down, which is where the minerals come in.

Molybdenum is the cofactor for sulphite oxidase, the enzyme that handles the final step of cysteine breakdown by converting sulphite into sulphate. Without molybdenum that enzyme does not work, which is why a formula pushing extra cysteine through the system includes it. Selenium sits on the other branch: the glutathione peroxidase enzymes that actually put glutathione to work are selenium-dependent, so selenium determines how much use your cells can make of the glutathione that NAC helped build. It is also the nutrient behind the formula's thyroid claim. Taken together, the formula supplies the raw material and the two minerals the enzymes on either side of it need.

How To Use

Adults take 1 capsule 1 time per day. Take with meals.

Frequently Asked Questions

➕ Is there more NAC in this than in the plain version?
No — both are 600 mg per capsule. The difference is the added taurine, selenium and molybdenum, and the bottle size: 75 capsules here against 150 in the plain Nutri NAC.
➕ Why is molybdenum in a NAC product?
It is the cofactor for sulphite oxidase, the enzyme that completes the breakdown of cysteine by turning sulphite into sulphate. More cysteine means more work for that enzyme.
➕ What does the taurine add?
Taurine is a sulphur-containing compound your body makes from cysteine. Including 250 mg of it means you are not relying on conversion to get any.
➕ Which selenium form is used?
Selenomethionine, 50 mcg per capsule — selenium bound into an amino acid rather than supplied as an inorganic salt.
➕ Should I take it with food?
Yes, that is the label direction: one capsule once daily with meals. It is also the practical answer, since NAC can sit heavily on an empty stomach.
➕ Does it smell of sulphur?
A faint sulphurous note on opening is normal. NAC and taurine are both sulphur-containing compounds and that is simply what they smell like. Store it closed, cool and dry.
