Naka Platinum Bromelain Extra Strength 500mg Details
Naka Platinum Bromelain Extra Strength 500mg is a single-ingredient enzyme supplement derived from pineapple stem, delivering 500 mg of bromelain at 18,000,000 FCC PU of protease activity per delayed release vegetable capsule — with each gram of Extra Strength Bromelain carrying 2,400 GDU of enzyme activity. Bromelain is a natural enzyme that breaks down proteins, aiding in improved nutrient absorption and efficient digestion of proteins, carbohydrates and fats.
Beyond enhancing digestion, Naka Platinum Bromelain Extra Strength helps reduce inflammation, making it a valuable supplement for those experiencing digestive discomfort such as intestinal gas and bloating. Its anti-inflammatory properties further support overall wellness. The formula is vegetarian, non-GMO, gluten free and made in Canada, with four non-medicinal ingredients and nothing else in the capsule.

Who Bromelain Extra Strength Is For
- People eating protein-heavy meals who want help with protein digestion and nutrient absorption specifically
- Anyone with intestinal gas and bloating who wants to try a single enzyme before a ten-ingredient blend
- Those interested in bromelain for the reason Naka lists beyond digestion — that it helps reduce inflammation
- People who want a vegetarian enzyme rather than one built on animal-sourced pancreatin and ox bile
- Anyone who found a general blend contained only a token amount of bromelain and wants it at 500 mg
- Buyers who prefer a short label: one active, four excipients, nothing proprietary
Who this product is NOT for: If your problem is heavy, fatty meals rather than protein, bromelain is the wrong enzyme — fat digestion needs lipase and bile, and Naka Platinum Enhanced Digestive Enzymes with Ox Bile is built for that. For broad coverage across starch, fat, protein and fibre, a multi-enzyme blend from Digestive Enzyme Supplements does more than one enzyme can. And if you are here for joint or soft-tissue inflammation, bromelain is usually one component of a stack — see Inflammation.
Vitamart's Take
We stock this because bromelain is one of the few supplement ingredients with two genuinely different use cases, and this product serves both. With a meal, it works in the gut as a protease. On its own, it is the enzyme people reach for when they want bromelain's anti-inflammatory side, which Naka states on the label. At 500 mg and 18,000,000 FCC PU per capsule this is a real dose, not the 50 mg token amount tucked into general enzyme blends.
The trade-off is narrowness. One enzyme means it does one job well and nothing else — no amylase for starch, no lipase for fat, no bile. If your digestion is broadly sluggish rather than specifically protein-related, a blend will serve you better. The other honest point: the label dose is three capsules a day, so a 75-count bottle is 25 days. Plan for that rather than two months.
How Bromelain Extra Strength Compares
Bromelain is sold three ways: on its own at a working dose, folded into a digestive blend at a supporting dose, or combined with other anti-inflammatory herbs. All three are reasonable; they answer different questions.
- Versus Naka Platinum Enhanced Digestive Enzymes: That formula holds 50 mg of bromelain at 1,800,000 FCC PU — a tenth of the activity here — but surrounds it with pancreatin, ox bile, betaine HCL, papain, ginger, fenugreek and a probiotic.
- Versus Naka Platinum Enhanced Serrapeptase: Enhanced Serrapeptase 120,000 SU with Curcumin, Boswellia, Bromelain and Bioperine is the stack approach for the non-digestive use case.
- Versus the standard Naka enzyme capsule: Naka Platinum Digestive Enzymes leads with 11x USP pancreatin rather than a plant enzyme — the animal-sourced route to broad coverage.
- Versus other bromelain: Compare across Bromelain. The number that matters is activity — FCC PU or GDU — not milligrams, because two 500 mg bromelains can differ several-fold in potency.
What Is Bromelain?
Bromelain is not one enzyme but a group of protein-digesting enzymes concentrated in the stem of the pineapple plant — the woody core, not the fruit you eat. Its job is proteolysis: cutting the long chains of amino acids that make up dietary protein into shorter fragments the small intestine can absorb. That is why potency is expressed in activity units rather than weight. FCC PU measures protease activity against the Food Chemicals Codex standard, and GDU — Gelatin Digesting Units — measures how much gelatin the enzyme breaks down under set conditions. A bromelain listing milligrams alone tells you little; this one specifies both.
The reason bromelain has a second life outside digestion is that a portion of it is absorbed intact rather than being digested itself — unusual for an enzyme, and the basis for the inflammation claims Naka makes on the label. The delayed release capsule serves both uses: it protects the enzyme from stomach acid so it arrives in the small intestine with its activity intact.
How To Use
Adults take 1 Naka Platinum Bromelain Extra Strength capsule 3 times per day. Take with food or meals.
