      Herbion Immunity Lozenges Details

A lozenge built around three immune nutrients — vitamin C, echinacea and zinc — in Cherry or Orange. 25 lozenges per pack, sold as a case of 5.

This is a different product from the Herbion cough lozenges, not a flavour of them. The cough lozenges are a seven-herb formula aimed at an active cough and sore throat. This one is an immune-support supplement with its own NPN and its own dosing, and there is no Adhatoda vasica, menthol or expectorant action in it.

Each lozenge carries 50mg vitamin C, 3.75mg of a 4:1 echinacea extract (equivalent to 15mg dried Echinacea purpurea) and 2mg zinc as zinc citrate — an organic acid salt, better absorbed and gentler on an empty stomach than zinc oxide.

The dosing is unusually flexible and scales by age, which is what makes the lozenge format work here. Children 6 to 13 take 1 to 4 daily, adolescents 14 to 18 take 1 to 6, and adults take 1 to 8. At the adult maximum that is 400mg of vitamin C and 16mg of zinc across the day, so the upper end is a real dose rather than a token one.

Ammonium glycyrrhizinate, a licorice derivative, sits in the base alongside eucalyptus essential oil.

Who Herbion Immunity Lozenges Is For

These suit anyone who wants vitamin C, echinacea and zinc in a format they will actually keep up with through cold season, and households wanting one product that works across ages from 6 upward. A case of 5 packs is sensible for a family or an office that goes through them each winter.

Speak to a practitioner before use if you take immunosuppressive medication, or if you have a progressive systemic disease such as tuberculosis, collagenosis, multiple sclerosis, HIV or AIDS, or an auto-immune disorder. Echinacea stimulates immune activity, which is exactly the wrong direction in those situations. Take with food, and a few hours apart from other medications or natural health products. These contain sugar and liquid glucose. Do not exceed the maximum daily dose for your age group.

      Frequently Asked Questions

      Product Information

➕ What is Herbion Immunity Lozenges?
A lozenge combining vitamin C, echinacea and zinc for immune support, in Cherry or Orange. 25 per pack, case of 5.
➕ How is this different from Herbion Cough Lozenges?
A different product entirely. The cough lozenges are a seven-herb formula with menthol and an expectorant. This is immune support with its own NPN and no cough action.
➕ How many come in a case?
      Five packs of 25 lozenges.
➕ What age can take them?
      From 6 years. Children 6 to 13 take 1 to 4 daily, adolescents 14 to 18 take 1 to 6, and adults 19 and over take 1 to 8.

      Benefits of Ingredients

➕ Why zinc citrate rather than zinc oxide?
Citrate is an organic acid salt that absorbs better and is considerably gentler on an empty stomach. Oxide is cheaper and is the usual reason zinc supplements cause nausea.
➕ What does a 4:1 echinacea extract mean?
Four parts dried herb concentrated into one part extract. The 3.75mg here corresponds to 15mg of dried Echinacea purpurea.
      ➕ Is 50mg of vitamin C a meaningful amount?
Per lozenge it is modest, but the dosing is designed to accumulate - at the adult maximum of 8 lozenges you reach 400mg of vitamin C and 16mg of zinc across a day.

      Usage and Storage

➕ How do I take them?
Allow one lozenge to dissolve slowly in the mouth, one every two to three hours. Take with food, a few hours before or after other medications or natural health products. Do not exceed the daily maximum for your age.
      ➕ Are there any cautions?
Consult a practitioner before use if you take immunosuppressive medication, or if you have a progressive systemic disease such as tuberculosis, collagenosis, multiple sclerosis, HIV or AIDS, or an auto-immune disorder. Echinacea stimulates immune activity, which is the wrong direction in those conditions. Contains sugar.
➕ How should I store them?
In a cool, dry place away from direct heat and moisture.

Children and adolescents 6 to 13 years: take 1 lozenge, 1 to 4 times per day. Adolescents 14 to 18 years: take 1 lozenge, 1 to 6 times per day. Adults 19 years and over: take 1 lozenge, 1 to 8 times per day. Allow the lozenge to dissolve slowly in the mouth, one every two to three hours. Take with food, a few hours before or after other medications or natural health products. Do not exceed the maximum dose per day.
