Sweet fennel essential oil is used in aromatherapy for symptomatic relief of digestive disorders as well as joint pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis.

HISTORY

Fennel – Sweet was revered by the Druids as a sacred herb. Since time immemorial, sweet fennel has been used as a medicinal herb in Asia, Egypt and Greece. Do not confuse Sweet Fennel (F. vulgare var.dulce) with Wild Bitter Fennel (F.vulgare var.vulgare) as the sweet is the one most used. Originally grown in the Mediterranean, fennel can reach between 1.5 to 2 meters in height. It has an anise-like taste when used in cooking. The essential oil is derived from its seeds. Fennel – Sweet is best known as a digestive aid.

Topical (Adults) Mix 1 to 2 drops in 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) of vegetable oil; apply to the affected area (joint or stomach) 3 times a day.
