Royal jelly is the nutrient-rich secretion honeybees produce to feed their queen — a natural bee product taken as a supplement in capsules, softgels, and liquid vials. It's long been valued as a traditional tonic, and it contains a distinctive fatty acid called 10-HDA. Here you'll find royal jelly on its own and in bee-product blends from brands like Bio Lonreco, Nutridom, and Beekeepers Naturals. What is royal jelly?

Royal jelly is a milky secretion made by worker honeybees to feed the queen bee. It's harvested and sold as a natural supplement, valued in traditional wellness as a general tonic. It contains a mix of proteins, B-vitamins, and a signature fatty acid called 10-hydroxy-2-decenoic acid (10-HDA), which is sometimes used as a marker of quality.

    Royal jelly forms

    • Capsules & softgels — pre-measured royal jelly (often 500–1000 mg), the most convenient format.
    • Liquid vials — fresh or concentrated liquid royal jelly, sometimes combined with honey.
    • Bee-product blends — royal jelly combined with propolis and bee pollen (the “hive trio”), or with ginseng.

    Things to know

Royal jelly is a bee product, so it's not suitable for everyone. People with allergies to bees, bee stings, or pollen — and people with asthma — can react to it, sometimes seriously, so they should avoid it or check with a doctor first. It also isn't recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. As with any supplement, follow the label, and speak to your healthcare practitioner if you take medication or have a health condition.
