Essiac Powder Details
How Does Essiac Powder Work?
The four herbs in the original Essiac formula work as a synergistic combination to optimize the body's defenses against abnormal cell growth. The burdock, sheep sorrel, slippery elm, and Indian rhubarb combination of Essiac removes toxins and cleanses the body, allowing the immune system to more effectively deal with cells that need to be eliminated.
The Four Cleansing & Immune Boosting Herbs In Essiac Powder:
Burdock
A plant found commonly in fields and on the edges of forests, the root of the burdock plant has a long history of medicinal use. It removes toxins from the body by cleaning the blood, thus it is used for skin conditions, like acne, that are considered to result from toxin accumulation. Burdock can also be used to cleanse toxins from the intestinal tract. It is a bitter herb that causes the release of digestive juices and bile, thus helping with intestinal cleansing.
Sheep Sorrel
Rich in naturally occurring antioxidants, sheep sorrel is a leafy plant with a long history of medicinal use in boosting the immune system. Free radical damage to the cells and subsequently the tissues of the body has been recognized as a major contributing factor to the development of many degenerative diseases. Antioxidants help to neutralize the harmful toxins that can cause cellular damage that may eventually lead to disease.
Slippery Elm Bark
Slippery elm is a tree that is native to North America and was first used by native North Americans. They discovered that when the bark was mixed with water it formed a thick mucus-like substance. Slippery elm is a demulcent, an agent that coats and protects mucosal surfaces. The active components in slippery elm are large carbohydrate molecules. In the respiratory tract slippery elm decreases cough, speeds removal of mucus and helps to heal the tract. In the stomach and intestines slippery elm protects the lining from ulceration. Slippery elm also soothes the urinary tract and helps the skin to heal. Natural health practitioners recommend slippery elm for a variety of needs including sore throat, colds, coughs, bladder infections, digestive ulcers, burns, and wounds.
Indian Rhubarb Root
Used traditionally in small amounts, the herb acts as a gentle laxative and helps purge the liver of toxic buildup and waste. It helps neutralize acids due to indigestion. Its malic acid also carries oxygen to all parts of the body , aiding and promoting a positive and balancing effect upon the whole digestive system.
