NOW Better Stevia (Alcohol Free) is alcohol-free and a zero-calorie, low glycemic, natural plant based sweetener that makes a perfectly healthy substitute for table sugar and artificial sweeteners. Unlike chemical sweeteners, NOW Better Stevia (Alcohol Free) contains natural plant Stevia extracts.
Stevia rebaudiana is a small shrub native to Paraguay and Brazil. A South American scientist named Antonio Bertoni who learned of the herb from the Guarani Paraguayan Natives first documented Stevia's use in 1887. Stevia was known as Kaa'-he-e which means "honeyleaf".
