Each capsule provides 600 mg of butyric acid (from magnesium bis-butyrate) and 80 mg of magnesium. Butyrate is a short-chain fatty acid that your gut bacteria normally make when they ferment certain dietary fibres, and the butyrate in this product is sourced from coconut oil. It comes as an encapsulated dry powder in Vegi-Caps — 120 per bottle — which Pure Lab says spares you the mess, excessive odour and faster spoilage risk of liquid products. Vegan, with no gluten, wheat, sugar, yeast, milk, egg, shellfish, soy, corn, preservatives or artificial colours. Pure Lab pairs it with magnesium, which it says relaxes the muscles important to gut motility, so one product covers both the gut lining and the gut muscles. Putting it in a dry capsule is a smart choice — liquid butyrate is notoriously smelly and spoils faster. The odour isn't gone entirely, but it's much easier to live with.
