Eden Foods Organic Pizza Sauce Details

A thick spreadable sauce for pizza or pasta made from organic Roma tomatoes with organic Spanish extra virgin olive oil, a bit of Eden sea salt, and all organic herbs and organic spices. Only made once a year at harvest from fresh tomatoes. Use it on oven baked burritos, enchiladas, polenta, as bread dip, and in soups and stews. A good source of fiber and antioxidant vitamins A and C. Provides 7.2mg of the antioxidant lycopene per serving.

Eden Organic Pizza Pasta Sauce is made of fresh, prized Roma tomatoes organically grown on an 800+ acre third generation Midwestern family farm. They grow in rich, organic, vital soil and are harvested perfectly red ripe. Fresh unpeeled tomatoes provide the best taste and most nutrients. They travel only 45 miles to be washed, hand sorted, cooked, and jarred within hours of harvest for maximum flavor, aroma, and nutrients. Organic Spanish extra virgin olive oil, a bit of Eden Sea Salt, and 100 percent organic traditional Italian herbs and spices creates a delicious sauce. Eden Organic Pizza Pasta Sauce is made without processing aids or additives - all ingredients declared. Eden is the wise choice delivering the greatest value.

Nutrients and Antioxidants

Eden Organic Pizza Pasta Sauce delivers 7.2 mg of lycopene, perhaps the most effective known antioxidant, per serving. Research shows cooked tomatoes are the best source of lycopene. Over 600 carotenoids (plant pigments) are recognized as antioxidants. Researchers say lycopene out performs all known carotenoids in antioxidant ability. They found cooked deep red Roma and cherry tomatoes to be the highest in lycopene, and organic even higher. Cooking with a bit of oil, like Eden Extra Virgin Olive Oil, increases lycopene absorption. Although lycopene is beneficial to health, researchers say it's not just lycopene that make tomatoes healthy food.

In whole cooked tomatoes lycopene works with other phytonutrients and vitamins making it much more effective than lycopene supplements that are isolates. John Erdman, professor of food science and human nutrition and of internal medicine at the University of Illinois said, "It has been unclear whether lycopene itself is protective. We believe people should consume whole tomato products in pastas, salads, in tomato juice, and even on pizza."
