Herbal Select Black Cohosh Product Description:

Black cohosh is traditionally used in Herbal Medicine to reduce symptoms associated with menopause, as well as to relieve menstrual pain and premenstrual symptoms. A recent meta-analysis using black cohosh found that six out of nine randomized placebo controlled trials demonstrated significant improvements (average of 26% reduction) in menopausal symptoms. It is also used in herbal medicine to help ease nervous tension as well as muscle and joint pain associated with rheumatic conditions and neuralgias.

Furthermore, in vitro studies have shown that black cohosh inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. The component of the herb most active in this regard is isoferulic acid, according to one study using whole human blood from healthy volunteers. Black cohosh has also been shown to have serotonergic activityin vitro. N(omega)-methyl serotonin isolated from black cohosh induced cAMP and blocked serotonin reuptake and is thus thought to be another active constituent of the herb.

Adult Dosage: Take 2 capsules, 2 times daily with water. Consult a health care practitioner for
use beyond one year.
